The Rotenturmstraße lies between two of the most prominent and liveliest places of the inner city of Vienna, it connects the Stephansplatz with the Schwedenplatz. The daily pedestrian frequency is correspondingly high and has over the years in combination with motorized traffic led to a “bottleneck” situation throughout the road.
We would revalue the street as a place of encounter and create an attractive, elegant boulevard, which blends seamlessly into the historic environment as an unmistakable sequence of places, creating added value and an opportunity for all users and residents to identify themselves.
As a reminder of Arthur Schnitzler’s theater and literary history event “Der Reigen,” a multifunctional installation in the form of a floating ring (“Reigen”) was conceived for the extended street space in the Fleischmarkt area.
